SUNDAY MEDITATION (Psalm 100)

The Essentials of Worship
Today’s Text: Psalm 100
SUNDAY MEDITATION

The following psalm is one of the most concise expressions of worship found in Scripture:

Psalm 100

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!

Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.

Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;

Sheep grazing in Israel.

We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Sheep grazing under an olive tree in Israel.

 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.

Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

Joy, gladness, thanksgiving and praise are all essentials of genuine worship. These qualities should characterize our lives at all times, but should be especially evident when we gather for corporate worship. Bring those qualities with you as you worship today because not only is the Lord the source of all that is good, but His mercy is infinite and His truth is available to our generation!
