Happy Father’s Day!
Today’s Text: Exodus 20:12; Ephesians 6:1-2
SUNDAY MEDITATION
The Bible clearly articulates our responsibility to our fathers:
EPHESIANS 6:1-2
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise; ‘that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.’”
EXODUS 20:12
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”
At the midpoint of the Ten Commandments, the emphasis shifts. The first four commandments outline man’s responsibility to God. The remaining six govern interpersonal relationships and begin with the command to honor parents.
The apostle Paul reiterates the command to honor your father and mother in two epistles validating it as a New Testament life principle (Eph. 6:2; Col 3:20).
Honor your father today by expressing your love and gratitude to him for the investment he has made in your life!
