GOD SEES ALL
The following words written by King David are especially appropriate today:
The Lord is in His holy temple,
The Lord’s throne is in heaven;
His eyes behold,
His eyelids test the sons of men.
The Lord tests the righteous,
But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.
Upon the wicked He will rain coals;
Fire and brimstone and a burning wind
Shall be the portion of their cup.
For the Lord is righteous,
He loves righteousness;
His countenance beholds the upright.
History is replete with moments that seem as though evil men act with impunity; we live at such a time. However, King David documents that the exact opposite is true.
God sees all! With His searching and piercing gaze, God scrutinizes the actions of men.
The message in today’s text is unmistakable.
The God of creation holds perpetrators committing despicable acts of violence accountable for their conduct. He will judge them accordingly.
Ultimately, God will decisively destroy evil.
As you worship today, be reminded that God will “make all things new” at a future “set time” that people of faith should eagerly anticipate (Rev. 21:5).
Meanwhile, be comforted that, “His countenance beholds the upright”—assuring God’s blessing and favor on those who place their faith in Him (Ps. 11:7). “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace” (Num. 6:24-26).
“The Lord is in His holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men” (Psalm 11:4). (NGC 2683 Spiral Galaxy. By NASA [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons) – Enhancement: MKM Portfolios
